On Sunday afternoon we went to the Hearst Castle, something I have always wanted to do. I am a huge fan of 'Citizen Kane', and agree with everyone else that is the the #1 movie of all time. I read the 1200 or so page 'The Road to Xanadu' biography of his first 26 years a while back with fascination.
Welles, I should have known, is persona non grata on the Hill. No DVDs of Citizen Kane in the massive gift shop.
But we did see a 45 minute documentary on Hearst, and then took the 5 mile bus up the hill and had 75 minutes or so to not touch or disturb anything.
